Royals activate slugging outfielder Guillen
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) - Jose Guillen was activated from the disabled list Saturday and started in right field for the Kansas City Royals against the Detroit Tigers.

Guillen had been out with a partially torn right hip flexor tendon, leaving the Royals without one of their biggest offensive weapons. Guillen led the club with 20 homers and 97 RBIs in 2008.

Manager Trey Hillman said he wasn't sure what to expect with Guillen having missed 15 days, but "he's moving good, he's swinging good, (and) says he feels good."

To make roster room for Guillen, the Royals designated for assignment catcher Brayan Pena, who went 2-for-7 with two doubles and one RBI in four games.

Pena, who the Royals claimed off waivers last May 30 from the Atlanta Braves, hit .303 last season with Triple-A Omaha.
