--Utility player Willie Bloomquist started at shortstop Sunday for the first time this season. It was Bloomquist's fourth different position to start this season. He also had started at second base, left field and right field in the first 25 games. Bloomquist has a seven-game hitting streak, hiking his average to .372.

--2B Alberto Callaspo has hit in 18 of his past 20 games, going 28-for-74. Dating to September 7, 2008, he has hit safely in 38 of his past 42 games, 52-for-147. In winning two of three at Minnesota, Callaspo stroked four doubles, bringing his doubles total to 12.

MEDICAL WATCH:

RHP Gil Meche (lower back stiffness) left the April 28 game. He should be able to make his next start May 3.

RHP Joakim Soria (sore right shoulder) didn't pitch April 23-May 1. He returned to action May 2.

RHP Doug Waechter (right elbow strain) went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to April 18. He threw bullpen sessions April 28 and April 30, but he wasn't ready to start a minor league rehab assignment.

3B Alex Gordon (torn cartilage in right hip) went on the 15-day disabled list April 15. He had surgery April 16 and could be out until the All-Star break.

LHP John Bale (thyroid surgery on March 3) went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to March 27. He pitched in extended spring training on April 22, and he might soon begin a minor league rehab assignment.
