--RHP Sidney Ponson went eight innings Sunday against the Tigers, his longest outing since May 21, 2008, a complete-game victory for the Rangers at Minnesota. He struck out seven Tigers, which are his most strikeouts since May 6, 2005, when he struck out eight Royals.

--2B Alberto Callaspo doubled in the sixth to extend his hitting streak to nine games, the longest by a Royal this season. He is 14-for-32, .438, in the hitting streak.

--C Miguel Olivo struck out swinging in his three at-bats Sunday and has struck out 17 times in 38 at-bats. C John Buck pinch hit for Olivo in the eighth and struck out with a runner on second base.

MEDICAL WATCH:

RHP Joakim Soria (right shoulder) was injured warming up on April 18 and hasn't pitched since April 22.

OF Jose Guillen (torn right hip flexor tendon) went on the 15-day disabled list April 10. He was activated April 25.

RHP Doug Waechter (right elbow strain) went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to April 18. He did not believe the injury was serious.

3B Alex Gordon (torn labral cartilage) went on the 15-day disabled list April 15. He had surgery April 16 and could be out until the All-Star break.

LHP John Bale (thyroid surgery on March 3) went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to March 27. He pitched in extended spring training on April 22, and he might soon begin a minor league rehab assignment.
