--3B Mark Teahen stroked a career-high five hits in six at-bats, hiking his average to .351. The previous five-hit game by a Royal was DH-1B Mike Sweeney on July 9, 2005 against the Twins.
--RHP Gil Meche was 0-4 in his previous six starts against the Rangers before picking up the victory Friday night. Meche, who was 2-6 with an 8.10 ERA in his previous eight starts at Texas, picked up his first victory over the Rangers since April 28, 2005.
--CF Coco Crisp drew two more walks, bringing his season total to 10. Chone Figgins of the Angels began the day leading the American League with 11 walks. Crisp also hit a three-run homer in the second inning.
MEDICAL WATCH:
3B Alex Gordon (torn labral cartilage) went on the 15-day disabled list April 15. He had surgery April 16 and could be out until the All-Star break.
OF Jose Guillen (torn right hip flexor tendon) went on the 15-day disabled list April 10. He is expected to return as soon as he is eligible.
LHP John Bale (thyroid surgery on March 3) went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to March 27. When he regains his strength and stamina, he will be activated, but he likely will pitch at least one or two games on a minor league rehab assignment first.
