Kansas City Royals Notes, Quotes 2008-08-30
--3B Mark Teahen's home run was his first since July 10, a span of 134 at-bats between homers. Teahen's home run on July 10 was inside-the-park against the White Sox. He had gone 42 games since a home run over the fence on July 1 at Baltimore.

--SS Mike Aviles had his 28th multi-hit game and his 10th three-hit game, raising his average to .329.

--The Royals have lost 18 of their past 21. They have been outscored 132-59 in that stretch.

--RHP Daniel Cortes, the Royals' top pitching prospect, did not give up a hit in six scoreless innings for Class AA Northwest Arkansas in a victory over Arkansas on Friday night. Cortes, who walked two and struck out three, improved to 10-4 and lowered his ERA to 3.78.

--The Royals have committed 24 errors leading to 23 unearned runs in the past 20 games.

BY THE NUMBERS: 24 to 3 -- Royals were out-homered by that margin in the past 12 games, through Aug. 24.

QUOTE TO NOTE: "That was a big one (error), four unearned runs. We have to have the ability to stop the bleeding when the defense makes a mistake. Unfortunately, we didn't. We had 11 hits, but not enough production, no enough two-out hits. That's part of the issue, two-out hits." -- Royals manager Trey Hillman, after 6-3 loss to Detroit.
