--Oklahoma RHP Dustin Nippert threw a seven inning no-hitter in a 2-0 victory against Omaha, the Royals' Class AAA farm club, in the first game of a doubleheader Sunday. Nippert struck out five and walked two, CF Mitch Maier and LF Chris Lubanski.
--IF Alberto Callaspo was placed on the 15-day disabled list for the evaluation and treatment for an undisclosed medical condition Saturday. This came one day after Callaspo was stopped for reportedly running a red light and then spent several hours in jail after being charged with a DUI. 1B-DH Billy Butler was recalled from Class AAA Omaha, where he was hitting .337, but went 0-for-12 in his final three games.
BY THE NUMBERS: 6 -- Royals' winning streak, which ended Saturday against the Cardinals, was the club's longest since beginning the 2003 season 9-0.
