--RHP Joakim Soria, who saved 42 games last year when was an All-Star, was placed on the disabled list Sunday with a sore right shoulder. The Royals opted to rest Soria to see if it would calm down the inflammation.
--RHP Luke Hochevar, who was 5-0 with a 0.90 ERA in six starts with Class AAA Omaha, was recalled Sunday and will move into the rotation, replacing RHP Sidney Ponson. Ponson was 1-4 with a 5.91 ERA in six starts. --RHP Kyle Davies, who had failed to pitch six innings in four of his previous five starts, went six-plus innings Sunday, holding the Angels to three hits and one run, while walking three and striking out four before turning a 3-1 lead over to the bullpen. Davies, however, got a no-decision as the bullpen blew the lead in a 4-3 defeat.
--Bad weekend: The Royals were swept in a three-game weekend series at Anaheim and have lost three straight for the first time this season. This came on the heels of a season-high six-game winning streak.
