--RHP Juan Cruz retired the Blue Jays in order in the ninth inning Thursday for his second career save. Cruz, closing in the absence of RHP Joakim Soria (sore right shoulder), picked up his first save since Sept. 21, 2002, at Pittsburgh while with the Cubs.
--RHP Zack Greinke's streak of 43 innings without allowing an earned run ended in the first inning Wednesday. Vernon Wells' two-out single scored Marco Scutaro, who led off the game with a double. Scutaro, who walked to lead off the third, scored the other run when Alex Rios grounded into a double play. Greinke's five victories in April are a club record. "The thing he (Zack Greinke) showed is he's human. He gave up an earned run," said Royals manager Trey Hillman. Greinke is 5-0 with a 0.50 ERA.
