--RHP Zack Greinke, who pitched 14 scoreless innings in victories over the Rangers and Indians, was named the American League co-player of the week with Texas 2B Ian Kinsler. Greinke tossed a seven-hit shutout Saturday against the Rangers, striking out 10 and walking none. SS Mike Aviles was the last Royal to win the AL weekly award, July 28-Aug. 3, 2008.
--The Royals are 7-2 when RHPs Gil Meche, Zack Greinke and Kyle Davies start. In both defeats, the bullpen blew the lead. --2B Alberto Callaspo went 1-for-4 Sunday to celebrate his 26th birthday. Callaspo is hitting .375 and has hit safely in seven of his past eight games.
