--The Royals will throw their three best starters -- RHP Gil Meche on Friday, RHP Zack Greinke on Saturday, and RHP Kyle Davies on Sunday -- in the three-game series at Texas. The three are 3-0, although Meche has no-decisions in his two starts. They have combined to strike out 32 in 37 innings, while allowing eight earned runs and 32 hits.
--1B/DH Mike Jacobs went hitless in the Royals' opening series at Chicago, striking out four times in seven at-bats, but his bat came alive at Kauffman Stadium. Jacobs hit .389 with an .889 slugging percentage and four RBIs in the Royals' just-concluded six-game homestand. He had extra-base hits in five of the six games. As Kansas City won two of three from the Indians, Jacobs went 4-for-8 with two home runs and a double. --RHP Luke Hochevar, the top pick in the 2006 draft, is 2-0 with a 2.45 ERA in two starts with Class AAA Omaha. He picked up the victory Wednesday over Round Rock, giving up two runs and five hits over six innings, while striking out four and walking two.
