--RHP Leo Nunez was placed on the 15-day disabled list after the loss Wednesday with a Grade 2 tear of his right lat. Nunez, who was 3-1 with a 1.71 ERA in 21 relief appearances, was injured while pitching Tuesday.
--LHP Neal Musser, who was 0-4 with a 3.07 ERA and six saves in the Pacific Coast League, was recalled from Class AAA Omaha. Musser was 0-1 with a 4.38 ERA in 17 relief appearances last year with Kansas City. --RF David DeJesus was removed for PH Ross Gload in the eighth inning. "David broke out in massive hives," Royals manager Trey Hillman said. DeJesus said he has had them since Boston last week and "this is the worst."
--CF Joey Gathright stole his 14th base in 16 attempts in the seventh inning. 3B Alex Gordon led the team last season with 14 steals and was caught stealing four times.
--RHP Zack Greinke threw a career-high 117 pitches. His previous high was 111 twice, the most recent coming on Sept. 15, 2005, against the White Sox.
--2B Mark Grudzielanek was held out of the lineup for the second consecutive day with a stiff back and visited a chiropractor. Alberto Callaspo replaced Grudzielanek at second base. Royals manager Trey Hillman said he is hopeful Grudzielanek would be able to play Thursday or Friday.

There were 74 no-hitters in that span. The only clubs with longer current streaks of not getting no-hit are the Pirates, Cubs and Reds.
