The Royals finished their homestand with back-to-back victories to snap a 12-game losing streak, which is the longest in the majors this season.
Danger, however, looms ahead as the Royals will open a six-game trip to Chicago and New York Tuesday. The Royals will play 13 of their next 16 on the road before opening a lengthy homestand on June 20. The White Sox, the first stop for a three-game series, lead the American League Central. U.S. Cellular Field has not been kind to the Royals. The Royals have not had a winning year at Cellular Field since 1999, when they were 4-2 there. They are 50-99 in 17 seasons at the "new Comiskey."
The Royals lost six of nine last year at Chicago last year. The Royals were outscored 84-67 in losing 12 of 18 overall to the White Sox in 2007. The White Sox out homered the Royals 23-9 in the 18 games.
While they are division rivals, this will be the first time the Royals and White Sox have played this year.
The trip concludes with four games at Yankee Stadium, where the Royals are 1-17 the past five years and 3-27 at the House Ruth built starting with the 2000 season.
