Arbuckle hired by Royals as senior adviser
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) - Mike Arbuckle was hired Friday by the Kansas City Royals as senior adviser for scouting and player development, 11 days after leaving the World Series champion Philadelphia Phillies.

Arbuckle, who had been with the Phillies for 16 years, quit when assistant GM Ruben Amaro Jr. was promoted to succeed retiring GM Pat Gillick. A resident of Liberty, Mo., Arbuckle has been in professional baseball for 30 years.

He joined the Phillies in 1992 as director of scouting. Under Arbuckle, the Phillies drafted Pat Burrell, Ryan Howard, Ryan Madson, Brett Myers, Jimmy Rollins, Chase Utley and World Series MVP Cole Hamels.

Before joining the Phillies, Arbuckle worked in scouting for the Atlanta Braves from 1980-1992.
